Steward's Report
Due to Government Social Distancing Laws under COVID-19 and acting in accordance with GAR 51 (10), the Stewards have directed that the boxing process in Victoria will revert to and continue under the 4-wave model being 1 & 5 boxed first, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8. Handlers are required to exit the area after boxing and maintain their 1.5m distance from other handlers and staff, at all times.
All persons (both Staff & Participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.
Track Curator Mr T. Godfrey advised that the track was deeply harrowed on 20th April 2020.
A sample was taken from Bounce Back at the Trainer’s kennel earlier today
Aston Antoine and He Shall Blitz collided soon after the start. Koko Kardash and Franco Fernando collided soon after the start. He Shall Blitz and Bounce Back collided approaching the first turn. Aston Antoine and Bush Martini collided approaching the first turn. Bounce Back checked off Star Blazer on the first turn checking Bounce Back causing Bounce Back, Koko Kardash and Franco Fernando to collide checking Bush Martini. Aston Antoine, Bounce Back and Koko Kardash collided approaching the second turn checking Aston Antoine, severely checking Bounce Back and causing Koko Kardash to fall checking Bush Martini and Franco Fernando as a result. Bush Martini checked off Aston Antoine entering the back straight and again in the home straight.
Koko Kardash underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion to the left front foot. No stand down period was imposed.
Post-race samples were taken from placegetters - He Shall Blitz (1st) and Aston Antoine (4th).
