Steward's Report
Abelero Bale checked off Frank's Girl approaching the first turn. Mario Vest Only and Broken Drum collided on the first turn, checking both greyhounds. Abelero Bale and Broken Drum collided approaching the home turn, severely checking both greyhounds. Abelero Bale checked off Broken Drum on the home turn. Frank's Girl and Montaya collided entering the home straight and again in the home straight. Montaya turned its head inwards and collided with Zambora Bear approaching the winning post.
Montaya underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 10. Montaya was found to have a right foreleg monkey muscle injury, a five day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr P Franklin regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Montaya was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Franklin pleaded guilty to the charge, Montaya must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
