Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Reglan Revolver.
Twice Blessed was quick to begin. Gone Early and Regaln Revolver were slow to begin.
Flywheel Strike checked off Twice Blessed approaching the first turn. Valencia Kid, Reglan Revolver and Kingsbrae Boof collided on the first turn, severely checking Reglan Revolver and checking Kingsbrae Boof as a result. Twice Blessed and Valencia Kid collided on the first turn. Gone Early and Flywheel Strike collided on the first turn. Valencia Kid visibly eased and turned its head from approaching the home turn to the home turn and again in the home straight. Gone Early raced wide in the home straight.
Valencia Kid underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right monkey muscle injury, a 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Ms Jennifer Gieschen, regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Valencia Kid was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms Gieschen pleaded guilty to the charge, Valencia Kid must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
