Hot Pies and Goldrush Rose were slow to begin. Hot Pies and Goldrush Rose collided approaching the home turn checking Goldrush Rose. Chief's Empire, Ashwood and Paisley collided approaching the home turn checking Chief's Empire and Paisley. Chief's Empire and Paisley collided on the home turn checking Chief's Empire.
Chief's Empire underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was then re-examined following race 10. Chief's Empire was found to have injuries to the left fibula and right triangle muscle. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Ashwood - the winner of the event.
