Croucher was quick to begin. Nostalgia, Ann Cherie, Hurricane Craig and Sapphire Hawke collided soon after the start checking Ann Cherie. Hurricane Craig, Sapphire Hawke and Supercity Star collided on the first turn. Croucher and Sharon's Gold collided entering the back straight. Royal Order contacted the running rail on the second turn.
Royal Order was vetted following the event after the greyhound tired over the concluding stages. It was reported that there was no injury apparent.
