Mepunga Spectre was slow to begin.
Saint West and Havana Miss collided soon after the start checking Havana Miss. Kurri Kurri, Zipping Keely and Marcus Will collided soon after the start checking Zipping Keely. Mepunga Spectre, Kurri Kurri and Marcus Will collided approaching the first turn severely checking Mepunga Spectre which fell as a result. Kurri Kurri and Marcus Will collided approaching the first checking Kurri Kurri. Havana Miss contacted the running rail on the first turn and lost ground. Havana Miss, Saint West and Aston Klara raced wide in the home straight.
Mepunga Spectre underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an injury to the right thigh. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
