Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Hip Hippy Shake.
Akina Blitz was slow to begin.
Comets Gold and Crossfire Icon collided approaching the first turn checking both greyhounds. Comets Gold, Jetyra Buckskin and Akina Moss collided on the first turn checking all three greyhounds. Lightwood Lass and Crossfire Icon collided on the first turn. Lightwood Lass eased approaching the second turn checking Akina Moss. Comets Gold and Akina Moss raced wide in the back straight.
Comets Gold was vetted and re-vetted following event 7. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr G. Orr, the representative of the greyhound Comets Gold. Stewards deemed the performance of Comets Gold unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71, Stewards directed that Comets Gold must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Lightwood Lass was vetted and re-vetted following event 7. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr J. Brown, the trainer of the greyhound Lightwood Lass regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the second turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Lightwood Lass with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Brown pleaded guilty to the charge, Lightwood Lass was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Cranbourne and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Fernando Rocks - winner of the event.
