Steward's Report
Quillan Bale was quick to begin.
Mega Dossa shifted in soon after the start, checking Rock Like Jagger, Dyna Wink,Captain Jake and Lana Bale. Dyna Wink checked off Lana Bale on the first turn. Rock Like Jagger checked off Dyna Wink entering the home straight. Mega Dossa turned its head outward approaching the winning post and collided with Quillan Bale. Lana Bale turned its head outward and marred Mega Dossa approaching the winning post.
A post-race sample was taken from Mega Dossa - unplaced in the event.
Lana Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Stewards spoke to Mr. T. Mitchell, the handler of Lana Bale, regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Lana Bale was charged with marring. Mr. T. Mitchell pleaded not guilty to the charge, Lana Bale was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Mega Dossa underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 6. Mega Dossa was found to have left and right shoulder injuries. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Ms R. Church, handler, regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Mega Dossa was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment by reason of injury. Ms. R. Church pleaded guilty to the charge, Mega Dossa must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
