A pre-race sample was taken from Honcho Monelli.
Shanlyn Magic was quick to begin. Honcho Monelli and Lonnie Knight were slow to begin.
Reid Star crossed to the rail soon after the start, checking Cawbourne Swade. Audacious Poppy and Reid Star collided approaching the first turn, checking Audacious Poppy and Honcho Monelli. Cawbourne Swade galloped on Shanlyn Magic in the back straight, severely checking Shanlyn Magic, Cawbourne Swade and Winsome Fernando, causing Shanlyn Magic to fall and Winsome Fernando to lose considerable ground.
Shanlyn Magic was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right deltoid, right trapezius and right pencil muscles, a 14 day standdown period was imposed.
