Steward's Report
Freakish Flash was a late scratching at 6.23 PM due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer N. Punshon was fined the sum of $100.
Kyrgios was quick to begin. Heartbreak Hermy checked off Zed Merrett soon after the start. Greenback Boogie and Tiggerlong Thief collided approaching the first turn. Greenback Boogie checked off Tiggerlong Thief on the first turn. Allen Quintus and Kyrgios collided approaching the home turn and again entering the home straight. Heartbreak Hermy and Zed Merrett collided entering the home straight and again approaching the winning post. Allen Quintus cramped in the home straight and lost considerable ground as a result.
Allen Quintus was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr. T. Dailly, the handler of the greyhound Allen Quintus in regards to its racing manners in the home straight. After viewing official race footage and hearing submissions from handler Mr Dailly, stewards deemed that Allen Quintus did cramp in the home straight. Acting in accordance with GAR 71 (Cramp), Stewards directed that the greyhound must perform a Satisfactory Trial before any future nomination will be accepted.
