Steward's Report
Balance was slow to begin.
Cheesy Whiskers crossed to the rail soon after the start checking Furtado, Connor's Bandit, Mick McKenley and Piparae. Cheesy Whiskers eased approaching the first turn collided with Furtado and checking Connor's Bandit. Piparae, Cheesy Whiskers, Connor's Bandit, Furtado and Balance collided on the first turn checking Cheesy Whiskers, Connor's Bandit and Furtado. Cheesy Whiskers faltered on the first turn and pulled up. Connor's Bandit checked off Balance on the home turn checking Piparae
Stewards spoke to Mrs. K. Abey. handler of the greyhound Cheesy Whiskers regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the first turn. Cheesy Whiskers was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a fractured right toe. A 21 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Cheesy Whiskers with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mrs. Abey pleaded guilty to the charge, Cheesy Whiskers was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
