Thomeli Steel was slow to begin. Galina Reznikov crossed to the inside soon after the start, checking Cindy's Mate and Mr Mangels. Crymelon Turbine crossed to the outside approaching the first turn, checking Mr Mangels, Cindy's Mate and Thomeli Steel; causing Mr Mangels to fall. Deacon Downs and Galina Reznikov collided approaching the first turn, checking Galina Reznikov. Galina Reznikov checked off Evil Shadow on the first turn, checking Crymelon Quinn. Thomeli Steel and Crymelon Quinn collided on the home turn. Thomeli Steel checked off Crymelon Quinn in the home straight. Crymelon Turbine and Galina Reznikov collided approaching the winning post.
Mr Mangels was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a cervico-thoracic injury and a laceration to the lip, a seven day stand down period was imposed.
