Take The Rapid was slow to begin.

Makikos crossed to the rail approaching the first turn, checking Rattle Gate and Avatar Djay. Makikos and Sports Gairn collided entering the back straight, checking Makikos. Ultra Sharky checked off Avatar Djay in the back straight.  Minnie Ha Ha faltered in the back straight and tailed off.

Minnie Ha Ha was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right hock; a 21-day stand down period was imposed.

Casanova was a late scratching at 9.19am due to a foot injury  (GAR 23). A ten-day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. 

A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Lana Lass, a post-race sample was subsequently taken from the greyhound which placed second.

Mr Andrew Mooney, trainer of Duty Sheet, declared a new weight of 30.7kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Duty Sheet last raced at 29.2kg.

There was a short delay to the start of this race due to inclement weather.

Destini Comet was quick to begin. Maximum Effect was very slow to begin (3L).

Cotton Bud Joe was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left long head triceps (monkey) and gracilis (back) muscles. A 14-day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr R Matthyssen, the representative of Heineken Girl regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Heineken Girl last raced on 29th May, 2017. Mr Matthyssen stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after being on season.

MEETING COMMENTS

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Mr Wayne Vassallo, the handler of Rock Lily, regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Rock Lily last raced on 4 February 2017. Mr Vassallo stated that the greyhound had sustained a right hock injury. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Rock Lily trialled over the 390m from box three, weight 31.9kg, the greyhound was placed first in a field of four. The time of the trial was 22.45, the greyhound won by a margin of 7L. Rock Lily was cleared.

Two Mississippi trialled over the 390m from box one, weight 28.5kg, the greyhound was placed second in a field of four. The time of the trial was 22.45, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 7L. Two Mississippi was cleared. 

Jeebus Bird trialled over the 450m from box one, weight 33.9kg, the greyhound was placed first in a field of four. The time of the trial was 25.83, the greyhound won by a margin of 6.75L. Jeebus Bird was cleared.
