Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Destini Laredo upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.
A pre-race sample was taken from Free Auto upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.
Crackerjack Jake and Free Auto were slow to begin.
Destini Laredo and Dyna Chill collided soon after the start. Destini Laredo, Dyna Chill and Violet Blue collided on the first turn, checking Violet Blue. Crackerjack Jake checked off Violet Blue on the first turn, checking Free Auto. Ben Nevis checked off Crackerjack Kack on the third turn. Ben Nevis marred the running of Crackerjack Kack on the home turn and again in the home straight, severely checking both greyhounds. Our Mate Wilson and Dyna Chill collided on the home turn. Crackerjack Jake and Free Auto collided on the home turn.
Ben Nevis was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury.
Stewards spoke to Ms Angela Langton, the trainer of the greyhound Ben Nevis, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn and in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Ben Nevis with marring. Ms Langton pleaded guilty to the charge, Ben Nevis was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at The Meadows and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A sample was taken from Dyna Chill, the winner of the event.
