Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Zipping Captain.
La Bella Riot and Spider Regis were quick to begin and collided soon after the start. Blue Sky Riot and Reign Of Buddy collided soon after the start checking both greyhounds. Mystic Riot and Puppet You Rippa collided approaching the first turn checking both greyhounds. La Bella Riot and Spider Regis collided approaching the first turn checking Spider Regis. Spider Regis, Blue Sky Riot and Reign Of Buddy collided approaching the first turn checking Blue Sky Riot. Rippa Regis and Spider Regis collided on the first turn checking Spider Regis. Spider Regis, Puppet You Rippa and Mystic Riot collided on the first turn checking Mystic Riot and Puppet You Rippa, severely checking Spider Regis. Reign Of Buddy and Zipping Captain collided approaching the second turn checking both greyhounds. Reign Of Buddy checked off La Bella Riot on the second turn checking Zipping Captain. Blue Sky Riot and Mystic Riot collided entering the back straight. Blue Sky Riot checked off Rippa Regis in the back straight.
Mystic Riot was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right triangle muscle, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr A. Azzopardi, Trainer of Mystic Riot, which performed below market expectations. Mr Azzopardi stated that he was of the opinion that the greyhound suffered interference during the event and that whilst the greyhound was inexperienced, she found the line well and will benefit from the run. Mr Azzopardi again stated he was not disappointed in the greyhound's performance. Stewards noted the explanation.
