Steward's Report
Night King and Barking Bad were slow to begin. Leo's Gift, Louie Lasagna and Kouta Mayhem collided soon after the start, severely checking Louie Lasagna which fell as a result. Leo's Gift checked off the heels of Kouta Mayhem approaching the first turn. Leo's Gift and Barking Bad collided on the first turn, checking Leo's Gift. Mighty Barcia visibly eased and turned its head outwards on the first turn, checking Tiggerlong Cruz, and severely checking Kouta Mayhem.
Stewards spoke to Mr Shayne Kerr, the trainer of the greyhound Mighty Barcia, regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the first turn. Mighty Barcia was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left hindleg back muscle injury, a seven day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the Stewards charged Mighty Barcia with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Kerr pleaded not guilty to the charge, Mighty Barcia was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
Louie Lasagna was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Samples were taken from the placegetters - Barking Bad (1st) and Tiggerlong Cruz (2nd).
