Stewards spoke to Mrs. A. Dailly, trainer of Idabelle Bale regarding the length of time the greyhound had between races. Idabelle Bale last raced on 28th July 2017. Mrs. Dailly stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after a toe injury. Mrs. Dailly also declared a new weight of 22.5kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Idabelle Bale last raced at 23.8kg.
Idabelle Bale was quick to begin. Dyna Bitey, Rancette, Bottoms Up and Lektra Kaycee collided soon after the start, checking Bottoms Up and Lektra Kaycee. Dyna Bitey, Rancette and Renew collided approaching the first turn, checking Rancette and Renew. Bottoms Up, Rancette, Lektra Kaycee and Renew collided on the first turn, checking Rancette and Renew. A pre-race sample was unable to be taken from Bottoms Up, due to the race bay being opened prematurely, a post race sample was subsequently taken.
