Steward's Report
Ace Ventura was declared a late scratching at 6:34pm due to the incorrect greyhound being presented to race. After taking evidence from handler Mr. C. Brennan and kennel representative Mr. P. Brennan, Stewards charged Mr. P. Brennan with negligence pursuant to GAR 86(o). The negligence being that he loaded the incorrect greyhound into the transport vehicle resulting in the incorrect greyhound being presented and the subsequent late scratching of Ace Ventura. Mr P Brennan pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined the sum of $250.
Stewards spoke to Mr. D. Bate, the trainer of Hardy's Banjo regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Hardy's Banjo last raced on 19 July 2017. Mr. Bate stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after being on season.
A pre race sample was taken from Southwood Ace.
Southwood Ace and Mav were slow to begin. Hardy's Banjo and Bud Husky collided approaching the first turn, checking Bud Husky. Southwood Ace checked off Melissa Lee approaching the home turn. Hardy's Banjo checked off Bud Husky on the home turn. Dyna Bobbi checked off Melissa Lee in the home straight. Melissa Lee and Dyna Bobbi collided in the home straight. Mav and Dyna Bobbi collided approaching the winning post.
