A pre-race sample was taken from Quick Step.
Claretown Boris was quick to begin. Quick Step was slow to begin.
Newfire Drewie crossed to the rail approaching the first turn checking Tanoan Creek and Rocky Gee Rocks. Rocky Gee Rocks and Tanoan Creek collided approaching the second turn checking both greyhounds. Tanoan Creek and Audacious Poppy collided entering the home straight. Quick Step raced wide in the home straight.
Rocky Gee Rocks was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right back muscle injury, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.
A sample was taken from Newfire Drewie - winner of the event.
Stewards spoke to Mr C. Pirotta after he failed to be in attendance at the catching pen prior to the event for the purpose of catching the greyhound Newfire Drewie. Mr Pirotta pleaded not guilty to the charge. After considering the evidences including Mr Pirotta previous history, Stewards found Mr Pirotta guilty as charged and fined him $150.00.
