Stewards spoke to Mr. S. Coulson, the trainer of Mardella regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Mardella last raced on 21st January, 2017. Mr. Coulson stated that the greyhound was new to his kennel and had been on season.
Mardella checked off Majong Rule approaching the first turn. To The Choppar, Mahjong Rule, Hey Shaza Fozz and Midnight Kebab collided approaching the first turn, checking Hey Shaza Fozz and Mahjong Rule. Mahjong Rule checked off Hey Shaza Fozz approaching the home turn. Hey Shaza Fozz checked off Mardella on the home turn, causing Hey Shaza Fozz and Mardella to race wide. To The Choppar and Hey Shaza Fozz collided on the home turn, severely checking Hey Shaza Fozz, Mardella and Mahjong Rule.
