Tiny Bopper and Major Curly collided soon after the start. Mustang Sammy and Gold Bombardier collided soon after the start. Tiny Bopper and Major Curly collided approaching the first turn. Tiny Bopper, Major Curly and Gold Bombardier collided on the first turn, checking Major Curly and Avon Glory, and severely checking Paua To Kapau and Gold Bombardier. Paua To Kapau and Gold Bombardier tailed off as a result. Major Curly checked off Tiny Bopper on the second turn and collided with Avon Glory. Avon Glory and Mustang Sammy collided in the home straight, checking Tiny Bopper. Avon Glory and Mustang Sammy collided approaching the winning post.
Paua To Kapau was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left hip muscle, a three day stand down period was imposed.
