A pre-race sample was taken from Louie Neveelk.
Sonic Pirate and Louie Neveelk were slow to begin. Addictive Bryce, Sonic Pirate and Sam Toocan collided soon after the start. Quasi Bale, She's A Collinda, Addictive Bryce, Sam Toocan, Addictive Riley and Coolan Boy collided approaching the first turn checking Quasi Bale, She's A Collinda and Addictive Bryce and causing Quasi Bale to contact the running rail; Sam Toocan and Addictive Riley fell as a result. Quasi Bale, She's A Collinda and Addictive Bryce collided on the first turn checking She's A Collinda. Coolan Boy and Louie Neveelk collided on the third turn severely checking Coolan Boy which lost ground as a result. She's A Collinda and Addictive Bryce collided approaching the home turn.
Sam Toocan was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a fractured left humerous. The greyhound was humanely euthanised.
