A pre-race sample was taken from Kaela Star upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.
Zou Star was quick to begin. Hearts To Hearts crossed to the rail soon after the start, checking Sergei, Roger Express and Kaela Star. Sergei contacted the running rail approaching the first turn. Midnight Elsa and Paradiso Lass collided on the first turn, severely checking Midnight Elsa, Sergei and Roger Express. Sergei and Hearts To Hearts collided approaching the home turn, checking Sergei. Midnight Elsa and Paradiso Lass collided entering the home straight.
