Heartbreak Hotel was quick to begin. Next Grange was slow to begin. Amari, Next Grange and Big Burkey collided soon after the start. Tom's Gift and Next Grange collided approaching the first turn, checking Big Burkey. Next Grange and Mystic Powers collided on the first turn, checking Mystic Powers. Fastnet Kahn and Kirabilli Dawson collided on the home turn, severely checking Kirabilli Dawson.
