Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Hall the trainer of Mimosa regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Mimosa last raced on 11/12/16.  Mr. Hall stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a seasonal spell.  Mr. Hall declared a new weight of 29.9kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Mimosa last raced at 28.78kg.

Viewing and Go Go Guru were slow to begin.  Fipa Potamus was very slow to begin (3 lengths).  On The Rebound galloped on Steel on the first turn checking On The Rebound, Viewing and Fipa Potamus and severely checking Steel.  Black Odessa faltered approaching the home turn and subsequently tailed off.  Fipa Potamus galloped on Viewing approaching the home turn severely checking Viewing which faltered and tailed off.

Viewing was vetted following the event and re-vetted following event 5.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured left triangle muscle and an abrasion to the right hock, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Following the event Black Odessa displayed signs of Post Exercise Distress Syndrome (PEDS).  As a result the greyhound was vetted and re-vetted following event 5.  It was reported that the greyhound displayed clinical signs of ataxia/hypermetria. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards directed that Black Odessa perform a satisfactory trial all tracks before any future nomination will be accepted.

Mr. K. Hellmuth the trainer of Nike Viper declared a new weight of 36.7kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Nike Viper last raced at 37.8kg.

Zipping Maisy was slow to begin.  Invictus Glory was checked off Juggernaut Train approaching the first turn.  Nike Viper was checked off Walkin' The Walk on the first turn checking Mahlo Blackhawk. Remember Jess galloped on Juggernaut Train on the first turn severely checking Juggernaut Train and checking Remember Jess, Invictus Glory and Mahlo Blackhawk.  Zipping Maisy was checked off Walkin' The Walk approaching the home turn.  Invictus Glory and Mahlo Blackhawk collided entering the home straight.

Stewards spoke to Mr. T. Erenshaw the trainer of Flying Smooth regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Flying Smooth last raced on 07/12/16.  Mr. Erenshaw stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a right wrist injury.

Miss Johannsen was slow to begin.  Galaxy Star and Zipping Moss collided soon after the start.  Flying Smooth and Ima Reality collided approaching the first turn checking Flying Smooth.  Wolfbane McCabe and Lloyd Street collided approaching the home turn.  Shake The Night and Galaxy Star raced wide in the home straight.

Jimmy Vella and Wild Angel were slow to begin and collided soon after the start.  Tito Mojito and Invienna collided soon after the start.  Silver Salute was checked off Sketchy Nick approaching the first turn.  Tito Mojito galloped on Black Paws approaching the first turn checking Tito Mojito.  Sketchy Nick and Miss Rossi collided on the first turn checking Sketchy Nick, Silver Salute and Tito Mojito. Sketchy Nick and Miss Rossi collided in the home straight. Silver Salute raced wide in the home straight.

A pre-race sample was taken from Paua To Kapau.

Paua To Kapau was slow to begin.  Johnny's Return and Monster Roar collided soon after the start.  Augustus Dagloop and What Joy collided soon after the start.  Stately Kay stumbled approaching the first turn and lost ground. Johnny's Return was checked off Paua To Kapau entering the home straight.

Stately Kay was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no injury apparent.
