Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr. R.Mahony, the trainer of Tear Away Duke regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Tear Away Duke last raced on 16 October 2016. Mr Mahony stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a right achilles tendon injury. Mr Mahony declared a new weight of 31.5kg for Tear Away Duke, which last raced at 32.9kg.(GAR 39 (2).
Go Dan, Slipaway Whitey, Tear Away Duke and Allen Gerwen were slow to begin. Iris Allen crossed to the inside soon after start, checking Queen Allen, Slipaway Whitey and Tear Away Duke. Slipaway Whitey checked off Queen Allen soon after the start. SlipawayWhitey severely checked off Iris Allen on the first turn, severely checking Tear Away Duke. Queen Allen and Allen Gerwen collided on the home turn.
Slipaway Whitey was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
