Glenville James galloped on the heels of Ponting's Nail soon after the start checking both greyhounds. Melos Girlfriend, Isala Bale, Quincey Mc Goo and Ponting's Nail collided on the first turn checking Isala Bale and Quincey Mc Goo. Thrupenny Bit and North Sea Miss collided on the first turn. Quincey Mc Goo and Thrupenny Bit collided approaching the second turn severely checking Thrupenny Bit and North Sea Miss; North Sea Miss fell as a result.
