Steward's Report
Harden Bale was slow to begin. Bookbinder, Chancy Be Smooth and Rebound Rita collided soon after the start. Chancy Be Smooth, Shahadollar, Bel Air Spice and Bookbinder collided on the first turn checking Shahadollar, Bel Air Spice and Bookbinder and causing Bel Air Spice and Cashin' In to collide; Rebound Rita raced wide as a result. Bookbinder checked off Sharon Benz approaching the home turn. Bookbinder veered out and marred the running of Sharon Benz on the home turn.
Bookbinder was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr. C. Treherne, the trainer of the greyhound Bookbinder regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Bookbinder with marring. Mr. Treherne pleaded guilty to the charge. Bookbinder was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Geelong and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
