Steward's Report
A urine sample was taken from Bugs upon arrival at the course.
A pre-race urine sample was taken from Blue Nitrogen.
Striking Holly was quick to begin. Runway slow to begin.
Bugs, checked and lost ground first turn, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right sartorius muscle injury. A 28 day stand down period was imposed.
Argyle Emma, stumbled home turn, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right deltoid muscle injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Mac Cruz, underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported, re-vet declined.
Stewards spoke to trainer Mr J Wickham regarding Mac Cruz’s racing manners approaching winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Mac Cruz was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr J Wickham pleaded guilty to the charge. Mac Cruz was suspended for 28 days (1st offence) at Warrnambool and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before anyfuture nomination will be accepted.
