Our Miss Nitro and Champagne Belle were quick to begin. Miss Margot and Bozumolu were slow to begin. Warby Gunner was very slow to begin (4 lengths). Champagne Belle checked off Our Miss Nitro approaching the first turn. Need's Luck and Champagne Belle collided on the first turn checking Champagne Belle. Runnin' On Gas, Our Miss Nitro and Bozumolu collided on the first turn checking Our Miss Nitro and Bozumolu. Need's Luck and Baby's Rattle collided on the first turn checking both greyhounds. Need's Luck and Baby's Rattle collided on the first turn checking Baby's Rattle and severely checking Need's Luck and Warby Gunner; Champagne Belle fell as a result. Warby Gunner eased in the home straight.
Need's Luck was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its right shoulder. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Champagne Belle was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr. A. Norris, the trainer of the greyhound Warby Gunner regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Warby Gunner was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained minor grazes to its forelegs. No stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Warby Gunner with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Norris pleaded guilty to the charge. Warby Gunner was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
