In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed ‘Heat Affected’. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 31.6 degrees and the kennel temperature was 18.9 degrees. Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue, as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy.

Pursuant to the GRV Hot Weather Policy, Stewards dispensed with two requirements prior to Race 1, meaning greyhounds were no longer required to remain on course for the specified time, and that the parading of greyhounds was to occur, as the outside temperature had decreased to a reasonable level.

Luca Skywalker was slow to begin and raced wide on the home turn. 

Aston Elijah was checked on the home turn, underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mr Darren Archer regarding the greyhound's performance in the event. After hearing submissions from Mr Archer, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, Stewards took no further action.

Luca Skywalker faltered and crossed out on the home turn, colliding with Aston Elijah. Luca Skywalker underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 3; it was reported that the greyhound sustained a left back muscle injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
