Steward's Report
Jumbuk Dennis was quick to begin. Edinburgh Bale was slow to begin.
A post-race urine sample was taken from Jumbuk Dennis - the winner of the event.
Pegasus Bale, racing manners approaching the winning post underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was re–examined following Race twelve - no apparent injury was reported.
Stewards spoke to representative Mr A Onley regarding Pegasus Bale’s racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Pegasus Bale was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr A Onley pleaded guilty to the charge. Pegasus Bale was suspended for 28 days (1st offence) at Geelong and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Edinburgh Bale, faltered turn off back straight, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was re–examined following Race twelve. Ednburgh bale was found to have a left quadricep muscle injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to representative Mr L Harris regarding Edinburgh Bale’s overall performance and recent injury history. After hearing submissions from Mr L Harris, viewing the available race footage and acting on their own observations, Stewards deemed that Edinburgh Bale must both perform a Satisfactory Trial and produce a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness in accordance with GAR 129 (a) & (b), and complete the trial pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
