Steward's Report
Shadow's Secret was quick to begin. Varsity Bale was slow to begin.
Dr. Leoni underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left and right foreleg monkey injury and a right hindleg sartorius injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Ms. Jennifer Gill regarding Dr. Leoni’s racing manners in the home striaght. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Dr. Leoni was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms. Gill pleaded not guilty to the charge. Dr. Leoni was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards spoke to Mr. Harley Whelan regarding the racing manners of Whipping It in the home straight. After hearing submissions from Mr. Whelan, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, a warning was issued.
