Steward's Report
Stormy Day and Funny Old Fellow were quick to begin. Flying Zulu was slow to begin.
Stormy Day (faltered turning into the back straight and subsequently tailed off) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right triceps muscle injury and right scapula soreness. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Orli Bale (turned head outwards turning into the home straight) underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to kennel representative Mr. Jordan Bryce regarding Orli Bale's racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Orli Bale was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Jordan Bryce pleaded not guilty to the charge. Orli Bale was found guilty and suspended for 28 days (1st offence) at Sandown Park and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race urine sample was taken from Smooth Plane - the winner of the event.
Following the running of this event, Stewards inspected the track between the first and second turn and deemed it suitable for racing.
