Steward's Report
A pre–race sample was taken from Son Of Duke.
Son Of Duke and Whiskey Splash were quick to begin. Hard Style Baby was slow to begin.
Son Of Duke visibly eased turning off the back straight, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following event 6. Son Of Duke was found to have a right groin injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Peter Barry regarding Son Of Duke’s racing manners turning off the back straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Son Of Duke was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Barry pleaded guilty to the charge. Son Of Duke was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Whiskey Flash was severely checked turning off the back straight and lost ground, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left fibula injury, a spike wound to the right fore dew claw and an abrasion to the left hind metacarpal. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
