Tiggerlong Await, Sandfire and Thunder Flame were slow to begin. Jokowi and Madiba Man collided soon after the start. Madiba Man and Overlimit Again collided soon after the start. Madiba Man and Overlimit Again collided approaching the first turn. Jokowi and Tiggerlong Await collided on the first turn checking Jokowi. Jokowi and Python Jackson collided approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds. Thunder Flame and Tiggerlong Await collided on the home turn checking Tiggerlong Await which stumbled. Thunder Flame raced wide in the home straight. Sandfire and Madiba Man collided in the home straight. Madiba Man and Overlimit Again collided approackhing the winning post.
Stewards spoke to Mr. A Setford, the trainer of the greyhound Sandfire. Sandfire was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to it's lower back and thigh, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Sandfire with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury) and directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
