In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed ‘Heat Affected’. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 22.4 degrees and the kennel temperature was 17.5 degrees. Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue, as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy.

During kennelling, Stewards conducted a carpark check on the vehicles of all trainers engaged in today’s meeting. Stewards were satisfied that all transport had adhered to the GRV Hot Weather Policy and the GRV Transportation of Greyhounds Policy.

Wardan Jilungin and Spirit Of Panama were quick to begin. Rapid Paws and Dinosaur Deano were slow to begin.

Hartland Duke (lost ground approaching the home turn) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left wrist sprain. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Kennel representative Mr J.Formosa regarding Hartland Duke overall performance in the event. In accordance with GAR 122, the Stewards requested Mr Formosa to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Hartland Duke in the event, which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event. 

Trainer Mr Brent Merton was issued with a warning under GAR156(f) for negligence, after the greyhound Aeroplane Erin was placed in the incorrect kennel during the kennelling process.

Club Officials were reminded of their responsibilities after the greyhound Aeroplane Erin was placed in the incorrect kennel during the kennelling process. This matter was referred to the Club Manager for further consideration and remediation.

On The Beer was quick to begin. Peaky Cone was very slow to begin (3 lengths).

All On Merrett – New declared weight of 36.1kg, last raced at 34.1kg.

Aileen's Lad, All On Merrett and Lektra Sam were slow to begin.

All On Merrett underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have suffered a seizure. A 28 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under the provisions of GAR 42, All On Merrett is prohibited from competing in an event until such time as both a veterinary clearance is provided to the satisfaction of Stewards and a Satisfactory Trial is completed pursuant to GAR 132. Further, under the provisions of GAR 42(3), All On Merrett is suspended from racing for 28 days at all tracks.

Kraken Rock (turned head outwards soon after the start) underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported. 

Stewards spoke to Representative Mr K.Eyles regarding Kraken Rock's racing manners soon after the start. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Kraken Rock was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Eyles pleaded [guilty / not guilty] to the charge. Kraken Rock was found guilty  and suspended for 28 days at Shepparton and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Slingshot Roxy – Proved difficult to box and will be boxed first in future events in accordance with GAR 106.

Lord Stanley and Our Boy Billy were slow to begin.
