Steward's Report
In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed ‘Heat Affected’. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 27 degrees and the kennel temperature was 28.3 degrees. Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue, as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy.
During kennelling, Stewards conducted a carpark check on the vehicles of all trainers engaged in today’s meeting. Stewards were satisfied that all transport had adhered to the GRV Hot Weather Policy and the GRV Transportation of Greyhounds Policy.
Stewards spoke to Mr. Geoffrey Fisher (kennel representative for Mr. Bernie Ender) in relation to the bona fides of the withdrawal of Mr. Personality from this race. Mr. Fisher stated that the greyhound had shown signs of soreness following the race at Healesville on Friday 8 March 2024 and did not feel the greyhound was in optimal condition to take place in today's event. Stewards noted the explanation.
Noir Satin – New declared weight of 34.5kg, last raced at 33.0kg.
Keep Me Close underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Ms. Kaylah Thorburn declined the option to have the greyhound re-vetted. Stewards spoke to Ms. Thorburn regarding the racing manners of Keep Me Close over the concluding stages. After hearing submissions from Ms. Thorburn, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, the Stewards issued a warning to connections.
A post-race sample was taken from November Rain - the winner of the event.
