Steward's Report
Viking Rebel and Know Ethics were slow to begin.
Stewards spoke to representative Mr Jye Formosa regarding the racing manners of Pretty Reef on the home turn. After hearing submissions from Mr Formosa, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, the Stewards issued a warning to connections.
Spring Tune (marred Viking Rebel approaching the winning post), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right back muscle injury and a right quadriceps injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to representative, Mr Dean Elliot regarding Spring Tune’s racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123, Spring Tune was charged with marring. Mr Elliot pleaded guilty to the charge. Spring Tune is suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post–race sample was taken from Pretty Reef – the winner of the event.
