Steward's Report
Brainy – New declared weight of 33.8kg, last raced at 32.2kg.
The first split for this event was hand timed.
Tommy Tuna was quick to begin. In Transit and Brainy were slow to begin.
In Transit contacted the running rail on the first turn and underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.
Brainy shifted out approaching the home turn and raced ungenerously, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right back muscle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Ms. Susan Northway regarding the racing manners of Brainy approaching the home turn. After hearing submissions from Ms. Northway, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, the Stewards issued a warning to connections regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the home turn.
Tribute Bale turned it's head outwards on the first turn and marred Tommy Tuna, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion to the left hind foot. No stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr. Ricky Coleman regarding Tribute Bale’s racing manners on the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123 Tribute Bale was charged with marring. Mr. Coleman pled not guilty to the charge, Tribute Bale was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sale and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Mr. Martin Taylor was issued with a fine of $100 regarding the use of a communication device in the parade area in accordance with GAR 96 (a).
