Steward's Report
An out of competition sample was taken from Ariarne Bale, Aston Velvet, Golden Quest, Korda, Master The Art and Mepunga Ruby on 21 February 2023, from Cawbourne Magic and Ritza Piper on 23 February 2023, and from Golden Ratio and Stagger Out Lee on 24 February 2023, pursuant to GAR 139.
Golden Quest was quick to begin. Aston Velvet was slow to begin.
Post-race urine and blood samples were taken from Ariarne Bale - the winner of the event. Post-race samples were taken from Golden Quest (2nd) and Stagger Out Lee (3rd).
Mepunga Ruby underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was re–examined following race 12 and was found to have a right tarsal sprain and right quadriceps injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Kennel Representative Ms Callie Wilson regarding Mepunga Ruby's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Mepunga Ruby was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms Wilson pled guilty to the charge and Mepunga Ruby must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
