Steward's Report
Meeting Comments:
Bills And Matts – In accordance with GAR 41(5), presented for a re–vet at the conclusion of kennelling as the greyhound was found to be injured at Geelong on 13 February 2023. Bills And Matts was examined by the on–track veterinarian and found to be free from injury. Bills And Matts was cleared to race (pending the completion of a Satisfactory Trial). A sample was taken from Bills And Matts in accordance with GAR 136, having been presented for the purpose of revoking a stand down period (re–vet).
In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed 'Heat Affected'. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 25 degrees and the kennel temperature was 17.5 degrees. The Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy.
Pursuant to the GRV Hot Weather Policy, as the outside temperature had decreased to a reasonable level, the Stewards dispensed with two requirements prior to Race 1. Greyhounds were no longer required to remain on course for the specified time, and the parading of greyhounds was to occur.

Commission underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported; a re-vet was declined. Stewards spoke to Trainer Raymond Henness regarding Commission’s racing manners turning into the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Commission was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (First Offence). Mr Henness pled guilty to the charge. Commission was suspended for 28 days at The Meadows and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
