Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Forward Step.
Get The Gringo was quick to begin. Speed Line Sally and Step Forward were slow to begin.
King Sal raced erratically at the 150m mark and underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Ms Margaret Salvatore regarding the racing manners of King Sal at the 150m mark. After hearing submissions from Ms Salvatore, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, Stewards took no further action.
Speed Line Sally turned its head to the outside at the 200m mark, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left hock injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Garry Condon regarding Speed Line Sally's racing manners at the 200m mark. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Speed Line Sally was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Condon pled guilty to the charge, Speed Line Sally was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
