Steward's Report
A pre–race sample was taken from Sylvan Lake.
Aston Miles was quick to begin.
Newport Flyer underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left-hind pencil muscle injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Kennel Representative Mr. C. Solkhon regarding Newport Flyer’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Newport Flyer was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Solkhon pleaded guilty to the charge and Newport Flyer must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Sylvan Lake was severely checked turning into the back straight and gave ground over the concluding stages of the event. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
A post–race sample was taken from Newport Flyer – the winner of the event.
