Steward's Report

An out of competition sample was taken from Hurricane Maggie on 22/12/2021 pursuant to GAR 79A.

Behind Greywalls was quick to begin.

Tower Bell and Behind Greywalls collided approaching the first turn. Fast Kaplan, Behind Greywalls and Latchi's Girl collided on the first turn checking Fast Kaplan, Behind Greywalls, Latchi's Girl, Tower Bell and Three Johns. Fast Kaplan and Tower Bell collided approaching the home turn checking Fast Kaplan, Tower Bell and Latchi's Girl. Hurricane Maggie visibly eased and turned it's head outwards in the home straight. Three Johns visibly eased and turned it's head inwards in the home straight. Behind Greywalls raced wide in the home straight. Hurricane Maggie and Latchi's Girl collided approaching the winning post.

Hurricane Maggie underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have shin soreness in both rear limbs. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr. Joseph Sultana regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Hurricane Maggie was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mr. Sultana pleaded not guilty to the charge, Hurricane Maggie was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial  in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Three Johns underwent a post-race veterinary examination and Mr. Sharp declined to have the greyhound re-vetted. No apparent injury was found. Stewards spoke to Mr. Liam Sharp, the representative of Three Johns regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Three Johns was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Sharp pleaded guilty to the charge, Three Johns was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Cranbourne and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
