Steward's Report
Essential persons (both staff & participants) attending today, provided satisfactory evidence of vaccination or exemption under the State Government’s mandatory vaccination (workers) directions, undertook successful health screenings, wore facemasks, observed social distance requirements, and adhered to room density quotients that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.
Lulu Osti was quick to begin. Average Axel was slow to begin.
Gotham Prince, Urana Wendy and Mrs. Tropicana collided on the first turn severely checking Urana Wendy and Mrs. Tropicana, checking Gotham Prince. Urana Wendy contacted the running rail on the home turn. Gotham Prince crossed out on the home turn and checked off Lulu Osti. Gotham Prince turned its head inwards and visibly eased entering the home straight and collided with Lulu Osti checking Gotham Prince, Lulu Osti, Average Axel and Oldina Patsy.
Urana Wendy underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Lulu Osti underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mr Michael Niele regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the home turn. After hearing evidence from Mr. Niele, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn.
Gotham Prince underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right deltoid and left triangle injuries, a 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr Sean Lithgow regarding the greyhounds racing manners entering the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Gotham Prince was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Lithgow pleaded guilty to the charge, Gotham Prince was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Straight Shooter - winner of the event.
