All persons attending today wore facemasks when required, checked in, observed social distance requirements, and provided satisfactory evidence of double vaccination or exemption under the State Government’s mandatory vaccination directions (as of 26 November 2021) that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue.

Big John was slow to begin.

Bumpy's Dad Roy – Late scratching at 4.03pm on 16 April when Trainer, Gary Cowcher, reported the greyhound to have a back muscle injury(GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 20(3)(v) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Blazing Nenna, which faltered and tailed off on the first turn, underwent a post-race veterinary examination.  It was reported the greyhound sustained a right metatarsal fracture, a 90 day stand down period was imposed.

Orejitas was slow to begin.

Following the event Barooga Smoke displayed signs of Post Exercise Distress Syndrome (PEDS).  As a result, the greyhound underwent a veterinary examination and was found to be displaying clinical signs of Ataxia/Hypermetria.  No stand down penalty was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mrs Brooke Ennis, the trainer of Barooga Smoke and advised her that the greyhound would be closely monitored in future events. 

Stewards opened an inquiry with Mr G. Berry in relation to the racing manners of Money Owes in this event. The matter has been adjourned and will be reconvened on Tuesday 19 April.

Supplementary Report 19.04.2022:

Inquiry held at Horsham on 19.04.2022: Stewards spoke to Mr G Berry, the trainer of Money Owes regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Money Owes was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment.  Mr G Berry pleaded guilty to the charge, Money Owes was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

An out-of-competition sample was taken from Sore Loser on 5 April, 2022.

There were no reportable incidents for this Event.

Samples were taken from placegetters - Jarick Bale (1st) and Yulong Yap (2nd).

Hillbilly Lass– Late scratching at 11.08am on the advice of the On–Track Veterinarian (GAR 37) due to a wrist sprain.  A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Wild One Mikado, Aston Salma and Twilight Sofia were quick to begin. Dioptase was slow to begin.

Courteous Reiko was slow to begin.

Stewards spoke to licensed Handler - Mr Dean Rochow regarding his undue delay in boxing Aragog for this Event.  Stewards reminded Mr Rochow of his responsilbilities in accordance with GAR 51(7) in relation to the boxing of greyhounds.  In assessing the matter, Stewards took into consideration that Mr Rochow had only recently taken registration with Greyhound Racing Victoria.
