Steward's Report
Spin – Late scratching at 10.19am on the advice of the On–Track Veterinarian (GAR 37) due to an abrasion of the left hind foot. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.
A pre-race sample was taken from Battle Axe.
Comeback Jack was slow to begin.
Omega Hondo and Mt. View Moon collided soon after the start. Battle Axe turned its head to the outside at the 250m mark and crossed to the outside. Battle Axe and Fairytale Bliss collided approaching the 100m mark.
Omega Hondo underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left monkey muscle injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Gary Mcmillan, the trainer of Omega Hondo regarding its performance at the 250m mark. Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71, Omega Hondo must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Battle Axe underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left fore toe injury and left quadricep injury, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr Malcolm Davis regarding the greyhounds racing manners at the 250m mark. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Battle Axe was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Davis pleaded guilty to the charge, Battle Axe was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
