Steward's Report

A pre-race sample was taken from Bomber Blitz.

Bomber Blitz and That’s Life were quick to begin.  Dark Summer was slow to begin.  Inter Mary, Little Ollie Mac, That’s Life, Penny Moments and Redgum Flyer collided soon after the start and again approaching the first turn.  Bomber Blitz and That’s Life collided on the first turn severely checking That’s Life.  Bomber Blitz and Dark Summer collided on the home turn and several times approaching the winning post.  

That‘s Life underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have an injured left thigh muscle.  A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Dark Summer underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have an injured left wrist and an abrasion on the left metatarsal.  A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. Nicholas Kosky, the trainer of Dark Summer regarding the greyhound’s performance in this event.  Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71, Dark Summer must perform a satisfactory trial pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards spoke to Mr. Christopher Watson regarding the racing manners of Bomber Blitz soon after the start.  After hearing evidence from Mr. Watson, viewing all available race footage and acting on their observations, Stewards took no further action. 

Supplemtary Report: The trial issued to Dark Summer under GAR 71 (the penalty) was appealed to the Victorian Racing Tribunal on Monday 13 December and was successful.
