Steward's Report
All persons attending today, checked-in and provided satisfactory evidence of double vaccination or exemption under the State Government’s mandatory vaccination directions (as of 26 November 2021) that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue.
Viking Junior stayed in the boxes at box rise and took no part in the event. Shima Pearl was quick to begin. Jye's Jet, Calix Bale and Speak Up collided soon after the start. Verdun Bale and Zinfandel Dusty collided approaching the first turn. Verdun Bale and Shima Pearl collided on the first turn. Speak Up and Jye's Jet collided on the first turn. Verdun Bale and Zinfandel Dusty collided on the third turn. Speak Up and Shima Pearl collided on the third turn. Zinfandel Dusty and Jye's Jet collided approaching the home turn, severely checking Zinfandel Dusty.
Viking Junior was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Stewards spoke to Mr G. Kantzidis, the Trainer of Viking Junior regarding the greyhound failing to jump from the boxes at the start of the event. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Viking Junior was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Kantzidis pleaded guilty to the charge. Viking Junior was suspended for 28 days at The Meadows and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Zinfandel Dusty was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained sand burn to the left hind, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Quarter Bale, the winner of the event.
